Guppies
Requirements to join the guppy team:
- Must be able to willingly jump into the pool unassisted.
- Willing to get face wet.
- Able to make forward progress for 5 meters unassisted.
- Fully potty trained.
Note: No swimmies or floats allowed.
Guppy Team Info
- Guppies can wear whatever swimsuit they desire, it does not have to be a team suit. (Jammers are not required for boys, they can wear trunks.) All guppies will receive one free team t-shirt and cap.
- A parent or caretaker must stay at the pool for the entire practice and meet.
- The swim test to move up to the 8 & under practice group can be administered after the 2nd week of practice at a team Fun Friday event. A guppy swimmer must be able to swim one lap of freestyle, unassisted, in under one minute. A parent must be present for the swim test. Please contact the head coach to arrange for the swim test. Coaches may also recommend to parents that a guppy swimmer is ready to test and move up. There is no additional charge for guppies who move up to 8 & under.

Guppy Evaluations: May 11 • 5p–5:30p
Practices: May 26–Jun 18 • 10:30a–11:00a • Monday–Thursday
Guppy Meet*: Sat, Jun 13 • 10a • Heritage Lakes pool
Guppy Celebration & Awards: Fri, Jun 19 • 10:30a • Heritage Lakes pool
Parent Responsibilities
At
the Guppy meets, parents will operate the stopwatches for the
Heritage Lakes guppies, and they will also write the times on the ribbons. The meets are very low-key, and nothing is "official."
No training is necessary.
Team Festivities
Guppies are invited to attend team activities as well as the end of the season banquet mid-July. However, guppy awards are only given out at the Guppy Celebration.
